Blaine Webb Whipple was born on May 16th, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to LeRoy and LaVerna Whipple.  He passed away on June 7th, 2015 in Lakeview Hospital.
Blaine grew up in Las Vegas, NV. He graduated from Las Vegas HS where he was named as an All State basketball player after his high school team won the state championship in 1945.   He  entered the U. S. Navy in the closing months of World War II and was stationed in Chicago and the Naval Air Station in Washington DC.  He served a mission for the LDS Church in the New England States mission, where he met Dale Hanks, who introduced Blaine to his future wife.   After a brief return to the Navy, he married Dianne Hanks in the Salt Lake Temple on August 3rd, 1951.   They both graduated in 1952, where he majored in banking and finance.
After several jobs, he joined KSL in 1962 and, in 1964, was named as Senior VP of Finance for Bonneville International Corp., continuing there until his retirement in 1989.  He was instrumental in the acquisition of the Bonneville stations in several cities.  He also served as Treasurer for Deseret Management Corp, and was involved in developing Deseret Mutual Benefit Corp., where he served on the board for 14 years.   He is a former chairman of Deseret First Credit Union and was a director for North Utah Community TV, Tracy-Collins Mortgage Co. and the Salt Lake Community College’s Grand Theater.   He also served as the CEO of Bonneville Telecommunications Corp.
Blaine worked closely in his work with many General Authorities and Presidents of the LDS Church.   He served in many church callings, including a calling as a Branch President for an elderly care facility and he served a mission with his wife to Hawaii and on a special assignment to Nauvoo.   He was a temple and ordinance worker in three temples and served a part time mission at the Humanitarian Center.
Blaine and Dianne raised a family of 3 boys and 2 girls. Blaine loved golf, racquetball, classical music, and good books. He was an avid reader and kept numerous journals.   He and Dianne traveled extensively and had many wonderful trips together with their family and with associates.  
He is survived by his wife Dianne; his children Gary (Carolyn) Whipple, Brent (Mary Kay) Whipple, Lynn (Marilyn) Whipple, LeAnne (Santiago) Loaiza, and Cheryl (Brent) Dutson; along with 19 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren; his brother, Evan Whipple; and his sister, Marcia Whipple. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Georgia Hammond and Sandra Hall.  The family would like to thank Visiting Angels, Community Nursing Service, and especially Josh Varney for their personal care to our parents.

A viewing for friends and family will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. The funeral will be held at 11:00 on Monday, June 15th in the Stone Creek Ward Chapel, 1476 North 300 West Bountiful, Utah, where a viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Blaine will be interred in the Lakeview Cemetery.
