Bobbie Veal Brock

August 8, 1923 — April 10, 2011

Bobbie Lou Veal Brock passed away peacefully on April 10, 2011 surrounded by her devoted husband and children. She was loved by many and she will be sorely missed. Born August 8, 1923 in Ider, Alabama. Bobbie was the youngest of 12 children, and the last remaining in her immediate family. She grew up during the hard years of the Great Depression, lost her mother at age four, and was raised by her father and many brothers and sisters, surrounded by nieces and nephews. During the depression, she learned the value of a dollar and could make anything. She loved to sew and was an artisan with a crochet hook. She made and designed beautiful clothing, dolls, blankets, and toys for her children and grandkids. Although not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she crocheted beautiful temple alter clothes for the Bountiful and Salt Lake LDS Temples. She was an amazing southern cook and will be remembered for her biscuits and gravy. Bobbie was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother and took great pride in her home and the care of her children and grandchildren. Bob and Bobbie were married February 21, 1943 in Ozark, Alabama. After the war, they moved to Southern California where they raised their children and Bobbie worked for many years at Johnstons Pie Factory. Bobbie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1970. She fought a tough battle and won. She will be remembered for her strong will and determination. Bob and Bobbie moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1989 to be closer to family. Bobbie volunteered at the Golden Years Center for many years, where they have friends who love them dearly. Bobbie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles (Bob) Brock, who took care of her until the very end, and her two children: Patricia (LaMar) Edwards, and Danny (Kelly) Brock. She has seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by an infant son, Charles H. Brock, Jr., and a great-grandson, Buddy Hanor. A memorial service will take place at the Bountiful Golden Years Center, 726 S. 100 E., on Saturday, April 16th at 11:00 am, under the direction of Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main. In lieu of flowers, Bobbie has requested donations be made to the Moran Eye Center,65 Mario Catecchi Drive, SLC, Utah 84132, 1-800-716-0377.
