Bonnie Mason Creer, loving wife and amazing mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Bonnie was born on August 23, 1944 in Ogden, Utah, to parents, Calvin J. Mason and Ruth Manning Mason. She was the oldest sister to her brother Dennis Mason and her sisters Cheryl Neves and Colleen Hazen. Bonnie grew up in Hooper, Utah attending Hooper Elementary, Roy Junior High School, Weber High School (graduating in 1962), and Weber State College (Bachelor’s in Elementary Education). She had a multitude of friends including her longest and best friend and cousin, Nancy Cox Sivulich, whom she knew since they were both less than one years old.
On August 18, 1965, Bonnie married Carl Roger Creer in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 51 years before Carl passed away. Bonnie is loved and survived by her 5 children, her son Michael Creer and wife Marina Rodin, her son Jeffrey Creer and wife Kiersten Creer, her son Ryan Creer and wife Karisa Creer, her daughter Allison Short and husband Brad Short, and her daughter Angela Danowski. Bonnie is the proud and loving “Nana” to 22 grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Her husband and her family and her many friends were her greatest joy!
As a child and young woman, Bonnie was involved in many activities and learned to be diverse and well-rounded. She loved playing softball excelling as a pitcher. She attended and completed Cotillion Etiquette School. Bonnie was also a Senior class officer at Weber High School and President of her sorority at Weber State College.
Bonnie loved children and especially loved teaching children. She taught elementary school for several years before starting a family. She also spent time teaching American Indian children through the Association of American Indian affairs. Bonnie was actively involved in the PTA at Boulton Elementary while her kids attended, eventually serving local PTA President for that school. Boulton Elementary in Bountiful.
As an adult, in her personal time, Bonnie played tennis with friends for many years, and enjoyed spending time reading, crocheting, and playing Sudoku and Words with Friends. She loved her strawberry plants and rose bushes. In her later years, Bonnie had a special affinity for watching hours of tennis, Hallmark movies, and Fox News on television.
Bonnie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life, she took the opportunity to serve in many callings in the LDS church. Bonnie was particularly pleased and terrified to teach Gospel Doctrine to the adult men and women in her ward, which she found extremely challenging and especially rewarding.
Those who knew Bonnie best will remember her as a faithful and loving wife, a wonderful mother, and a loyal and devoted friend. She was an excellent listener and offered so many of her family and friends just the right amount of advice and support.
Bonnie’s family expresses its sincere and most heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the many individuals who touched Bonnie’s life and loved and supported her.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Chase Lane Ward church, located at 1125 North 400 West, Centerville, Utah 84014. Funeral services will follow at the church at 11:00 a.m. that same day. Interment will take place at the Hooper City Cemetery.
