Bonnie Harris Chatelain

February 10, 1946 — February 19, 2018

Our dearest angel wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Bonnie Harris Chatelain moved on to heaven, Monday, February 19, 2018. She was born on February 10, 1946 to John and Zelta Harris in Prosser, WA. She was the youngest of 5 children, including twin sister, Barbara Ann, sister, Ila Faye, and 2 brothers, Thomas Richard and John Robert. She grew up in Arcata, CA, graduated from Arcata High School in 1963 then moved to Utah and started working for the LDS Primary General Board. During this time she met and married the love of her life, Allen, in the Mesa, AZ Temple on September 7, 1965. She loved being a daughter-in-law of John and Cremona Chatelain. Allen and Bonnie were blessed with five children. Mom's highest aspiration was to be a mother and she was amazing at it! She loved celebrating with her children and made everyday life an adventure. She read scriptures, stories, and poems to us. She made a big deal of holidays and birthdays, General Conference and Sundays. She loved serving in her callings for the LDS church, especially in Y.W. and Girls Camp. She ran a daycare in her home for almost 20 years and loved those children as her own.
We all are very proud that Mom was an author and wrote a book. She studied and researched for years and was finally encouraged to write a book about her journey with nutrition, which was published and distributed worldwide.
Mom enjoyed sewing, reading, writing poetry, doing puzzles, organizing, and singing, but she was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren.
She inspired us all to make the best of any situation, to be grateful, and to lift and love everyone we encountered.
The gospel of Jesus Christ was not a part of Mom's life, it was her whole life. She had a deep testimony of the Savior and used every opportunity to teach her children and grandchildren of Him. She also taught us to love and listen to the prophet.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Allen; five children, Danielle (Reed), Anthony (Tori), Camille (Richard), Aaron (Karen), and Mignon (Greg); 16 beautiful grandchildren; brother, Bob Harris, and sister, Barbara Whitney. She was also thrilled about becoming a great-grandma soon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24 at 1:00 pm at the LDS Chapel, 3707 S. 800 W., Bountiful, UT. Viewings will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main St., Bountiful, UT and then just prior to the funeral service on Saturday from 11:45 a.m. -12:45 p.m. at the chapel. Interment will be at Bountiful City Cemetery following the funeral.
