Brad Reneer Tingey, our wonderful brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at the age of 62. Brad died from complications of a stroke.
Brad was born on April 17, 1956, to Ralph J. and Martha Reneer Tingey of Centerville, Utah. He was the fourth child out of five children.
He graduated from Viewmont High School, with honors, and also attended the University of Utah where he studied health sciences.
He (Braddie or Uncle Braddie as he was called) was the life of every family party, let alone any function he attended. He was fun, witty, very imaginative and hard working. He also excelled at playing the piano and organ and would often perform for family, friends and neighbors if asked to do so during the holidays and other special occasions.
Brad lived in New York City for the past 20 years because of his career as a flight-attendant for Delta Air Lines. He has worked at Delta since May of 1999. He loved his job (most of the time) and excelled at what he did. He achieved a perfect attendance record and was an example to others on how customer service should be rendered. He often got a good laugh from passengers on the plane and at other times Brad wanted to push them out the exit door.
Before working at Delta Air Lines, he held various positions at LDS hospital. He was a Unit Supervisor and Customer Service Manager in the Psychiatry Department and also a coordinator in the Dialysis Unit. He could make people smile during the most difficult times. Brad loved his associates and many of them became lifelong friends.
He was a faithful and devoted Disney fan and loved everything about Disney including the theme parks, Disney cruises, artwork and tons of clothing and other memorabilia. Because of his passion for Disney, he worked at The Disney Store, as a sales associate, in Salt Lake City for nine years. He was always excited when he could provide friends and family the “employee discount” on anything in the store.
Brad also loved everything about Broadway theatre, musicals and plays. His favorites were “Hello Dolly,” “Carousel” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” He was also a movie buff and enjoyed (almost) every new movie produced along with the old-time classics from years gone by. He would often quote his favorite movie lines when he had something to tell you.
Everyone loved Brad for his humor, cleverness and the fun games he would create at family activities. He had a nickname for almost everyone. Everyone looked forward to getting presents and greeting cards from him because he always made you laugh and gave the best gifts.
Brad was a very generous and giving person. One of his favorite things to do at Christmas was to donate food, money and winter clothing items to the Utah Food Bank. He was all about making people happy and keeping everyone entertained.
A very special “Thank You” goes out to his dear friends Vito Nassour and Renato Garma for all they did for Brad while he lived in New York. They also helped him at the hospital, along with his brother Ted, until he passed away.
The family would also like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Lenox Hill Hospital, in New York City, for their loving care and treatment of Brad. They did a great job.
We also want to express deep appreciation to Delta Air Lines for all the help they rendered to Brad in getting him back to Utah along with all his personal belongings. This would not have been possible without the help of his immediate supervisor Christopher George. Thank you, Christopher, for going “above & beyond” what you needed to do for our family.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph J. and Martha R. Tingey along with his brother Jeff R. Tingey. He is survived by his brother Ken Tingey of Bountiful, Barb Tingey of Centerville and Ted (Michelle) Tingey of Bountiful. He had 11 nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
A viewing and funeral service will be held at Russon Mortuary, located at 295 North Main Street in Bountiful, Utah, on Monday September 24, 2018. The viewing will take place from 9am until 10:45am with the funeral following right after at 11am.
Interment will be at the Centerville City Cemetery located at 650 East 400 South in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, Brad wishes for everyone to donate to the Utah Food Bank in his behalf.
We will miss you Braddie! We love you and will never forget you. Thanks for the memories.
