Bradley T Johnson

Heaven gained another angel. Bradley Todd Johnson was born July 15, 1974 in Bountiful, UT, to Stanley Lamar and NaDene Hodges Johnson. Brad passed away May 12, 2022 surrounded by family and staff at his group home in Taylorsville, UT.
Our dear, sweet, innocent son and brother passed away after months of being bedridden since suffering a fractured femur due to a fall in October 2021. His health had gradually declined since his hospitalization to repair the fracture and he had multiple hospital visits due to aspiration pneumonia. Although Brad was never able to talk, he could let you know what he wanted and was the boss of us all. It was difficult to have a conversation without his frequent interruptions as he wanted to share his opinion. It didn’t take long for one to discover just how smart he was.
Brad loved family parties, baseball caps, golf clubs, riding in a golf cart, money, purses (they contained wallets which he assumed contained money), back packs, Coke, Diet Coke, ice cream, potato and macaroni salads, chocolate, fruit, vegetables, hamburgers and hot dogs. He also loved going for rides and holding his dad’s cell phone. His Dad had to pay Brad a dollar in order to get his cell phone back at the end of his visits.
Brad taught us patience and unconditional love.
We are comforted in knowing Brad was reunited with his beloved mother who passed away in October 2019, as well as other family members who preceded him. He is free from his crippled body, able to stand erect, and can communicate clearly.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jones, Dr. Baese and staff of the Neurobehavior HOME Program for their care over the years; Bonnie Kunz, Brad’s DSPD Support Coordinator, for her support over the years; and the staff of the Futures Through Choices (FTC) group home in Taylorsville who provided loving care Brad over the past 7 years. They truly loved him, and he love them in return. We are also grateful to the FTC nurse, behaviorist and administrators who were also invested in Brad’s wellbeing. There are a host of other caregivers that have also provided care over Brad’s lifetime. His devoted parents provided the very best care, however.
Brad is survived by his father Stan and sister Jana Johnson (Woods Cross, UT), and brothers Marc (Ruth) Johnson (West Bountiful, UT) and Greg (Tammi) Johnson (Saratoga Springs, UT). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, maternal and paternal grandparents, two uncles and an aunt.
A viewing will be held Friday, May 20 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, UT. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 21 at 12:00 p.m. in the Smithfield City Cemetery, Smithfield, UT where Brad will be laid to rest beside his mother.
