Bradly Alan Empey, a beloved Husband, Father, Son and Brother passed away unexpectedly the afternoon of January 29th, 2023 at the young age of 48. He was a devoted, loyal, loving, and dedicated husband and father. Brad was a strong, loving, and selfless person who always put others before himself, had a nickname for everyone around him, and had a great sense of humor. Always on time, always looking for the next adventure, and always making lifelong memories with his family.
Bradly Alan Empey was born September 29,1974 at Homestead Air Force Base, Florida. The only boy of 6 children born to Alan Harold (the late) and Donna Lou Empey. He was a younger brother to Teresa and Jennifer, and a great older brother to Melissa, Stefanie and Melanie. Brad grew up traveling the world with his family as his father was in the Air Force. He lived in Florida, Germany, the state of Washington, and Plattsburgh, New York. Following his father Alan’s death on December 26th, 1989, he and his family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho to be closer to family.
Brad graduated from Snake River High School in 1993. Shortly after graduating, Brad met Rachel Ann Sandoval, the love of his life. They met in 1994, they were both camping at Mosquito Creek Jackson Hole, Wyoming where she cooked him “The Best Potato” he's ever had. Brad and Rachel then had Maize Sarah Empey (95), and Aidan Bradly Empey (97). Brad and Rachel married in North Salt Lake, Utah in 2002. In 2009, they welcomed their surprise son Trey Leroy Empey. Brad and Rachel then adopted their second daughter, Maré Princess Sandoval in 2015. Brad continued his education and received his Associates Degree at Weber State (2000), his Bachelors in Business Administration and Economics at the University of Utah (2001), and his Masters in Business Administration at The University of Phoenix (2021).
Brad was a very avid traveler and concert goer, as he and his family would follow the band Phish to every great new place they would go. Some of Brad's other hobbies included: skateboarding, snowboarding, rock climbing, and mountain biking. He was also an avid runner. He competed in The Boston Marathon in 2022. He finished this prestigious race with the low time of 04:32:26.
Services for Brad will be held at Russon Brothers funeral home, 1585 W 300 S. Syracuse, Utah, 84075, Sunday February 5th, 2023. 2pm to 4pm for the viewing, 5pm Services, with immediate family service right after. A dinner reception will follow at Jensen Nature Center, 3176 S Bluff Rd, Syracuse UT, 84075.
Offerings for Buddha will be accepted and donated to the Wat Dhammagunaram Monastery of Utah, and will not be required. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Davis County Animal Shelter, your local animal shelter, or the Wat Dhammagunaram Monastery of Utah, 644 E Gordon Ave, Layton, UT 84041.
