Brent Orgill Taylor passed away on Christmas morning surrounded by his family. Born in Salt Lake City in 1937 to two “palagi” parents even though he considered himself half Samoan. He graduated from West High, beginning a lifelong devotion to the High School. Brent served an LDS mission in Samoa and returned to get education degrees from the University of Utah.
Brent was a lifelong educator, teaching for 45 years at West high (“Mr. T”) and in the LDS church. He was careful to answer a question with a question, forcing the students to learn for themselves.
He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara, and they were joined by four children: Teri (Mike) King, Stacey (Kelly) Rasmussen, Derek (Renae) Taylor, and Rachel (Jared) Steenblik. Our devoted grandfather, “Papa Tay”, will be missed by his thirteen “Taylor-made Taylor-tots”: Taylor, Sydney, Raygan, and Kendyl (King); Samantha, Kolby, Nick, and Mikell (Rasmussen); Jamie, Cole, Gavin, and Cade (Steenblik); Charlee (Taylor).
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 29 at 11:00 am at LDS chapel located at 1825 South 800 East, Bountiful.
