Brian Alfred Rau

February 27, 1955 — January 27, 2017

Brian, our fun-loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend, finished his work on Earth January 27, 2017 one month before his 62nd birthday.  He was born on February 27, 1955 to Kathlyn Elizabeth Hoodenpyl and Alfred Carl Rau in Portland, Oregon.  He was the fourth of five boys.

Brian grew up in Forest Grove, Oregon.  After serving an LDS mission in Hawaii he attended Brigham Young University where he met his wife, Suzanne Redd.  They were sealed for time and all eternity on June 12, 1981 in the Manti, Utah temple.  He was the proud father of five "amazing children" and the adoring grandfather of eleven.

Brian worked for Delta Airlines for 23 years, owned an engraving business for 5 years and spent the last 6 years working for Deseret Mutual Benefit Administrators.  He was loved by all and brightened everyone's day with his quick wit and sense of humor.

Brian was humble, generous, funny, creative and adventurous.  He was a kid at heart who always believed he was in the prime of his life.  He loved BYU sports, but never learned that the outcome of tense games could not be influenced by yelling at the TV.  He loved being anywhere outdoors whether fishing, camping, boating or at the beach.  Brian had a passion for traveling and loved creating memories with his family while on vacations all over the world. He was a board and card game connoisseur and regularly accused others of being "cheat buckets."

Above all, Brian was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He found joy in his family through all stages of life.  He was also faithful to his testimony of the Savior and served diligently in many church callings.

Brian is survived by his wife of 35 years and his 5 children, Katie (Daniel) Holley, Michael (Maridee), Christopher, Jessica (Jeffrey) Wegner, Matthew and 11 grandchildren: Alexis, Taya, Brynlee, Luke, Carlie, Brooke, Jake, Madelyn, Logan, McCall and Mackenzie.  He is also survived by his 4 brothers Rodger (Sharon), Larry, Steve (Linda), Kevin (Sigrid).

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Woods Cross LDS Stake Center, 2064 S. 800 W., Woods Cross, Utah.  Viewings will be held Thursday, February 2nd from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, Utah and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.  Interment will be at Bountiful City Cemetery.
