After a life full of joy and service, Brian Arthur Hellewell, amidst his struggles with M.S., was called home on October 6, 2013. Brian attended three different high schools, moving from Heber to Texas to Bountiful, Utah. He ran on his track team at Viewmont High School. He played the trombone in each school band and eventually earned a scholarship to Weber State for his trombone skills. He faithfully served a 2-year mission to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, which cemented his life-long love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Brian met Andrea by chance on the UTA 55 bus. They fell in love and were married on August 22, 1997 in the Bountiful Temple. Their love story will never end. A year after their marriage, Brian developed signs of M.S., and he spent the next 15 years facing his physical challenges in the most optimistic fashion. He worked at DMBA for 7 years-commuting in a wheelchair for many of them. Brian adored his children, Elayna and Wyatt. His greatest joy was to see his children born, having a sure knowledge his family is sealed together forever. Brian is a follower of Christ. Every fast and testimony meeting, Brian bore his testimony of his faith in Jesus Christ. Though he finally succumbed to his physical challenges in this life, Brian is free from his mortal struggles and continues his ministry to serve his Savior. We love you, Daddy!
Brian is survived by his wife of 16 years, Andrea; his daughter, Elayna (8); his son, Wyatt (5); his parents JD and Carol Hellewell; his brother, Bret (Yolanda); his sister, Amy (Kevin); his brother, David (Carissa); his grandmother, Doyle Hellewell; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. We give our heartfelt appreciation to CNS and Essential Care for the care of Brian through the past years. Brian couldn’t let his caregivers leave without trying to draw them a smiley face (:).
