Britton Paul Lawrence was born on February 15, 1987. Named in honor of England, land of his ancestors, Britton grew to fit his name… he is and always will be, to us, “Great Britton”. He was a kind and gentle child with a lively imagination, a brilliant mind and a fun, quirky sense of humor. As he grew, music became an important part of his life, first with piano and then trumpet, bass and guitar. He performed proudly with the Davis High Marching band in the Rose Parade, played upright bass with the Jazz band in Moonlight Serenade and took part in Wind Ensemble. He was a huge fan of classic rock and especially of the band RUSH.
Britton loved sports beginning with T-ball, soccer and Jr. Jazz followed by two years of little league football with the Wasatch Front Football League. One proud year his team was never scored on, went undefeated, AND won the mini bowl. Skiing was another passion that Britton desired to share even with his young 4 year old son. In high school, Britton discovered running and joined the Davis High X-country team enjoying the camaraderie and exhilaration of running in snow, rain or shine and at high-altitude camp. He was dedicated and determined to run his “personal best”.
He earned his Eagle Scout award and then graduated from Davis High School in 2005.
Britton served as an LDS missionary in Lima Peru and then attended BYU Idaho where he met and fell in love with Courtney Lynn Guth. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 27, 2008. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Kaden age 4 and Cambrie, age 2, who were the light, joy and motivation of Britton’s life.
Britton took pride in working hard, most recently as a Project Engineer for Jacobsen Construction. He admired and enjoyed the association of many of his co-workers. Britton is survived by his parents Paul and Cristina; siblings, Courtney and Ethan; wife, Courtney Lynn Guth, and children Kaden and Cambrie. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncles, cousins and grandmother, Beth Lawrence.
For the past 10 years, Britton has fought a courageous battle with debilitating anxiety and depression. He passed away on March 18, 2017. We rejoice in knowing that he is now at peace in the loving arms of his Savior and enjoying the companionship of dear grandparents Jerry, Norman and Belva. His wonderful spirit, life and talents will be celebrated at Funeral and Viewing Services held at the Baer Creek Ward Chapel [1282 West 1875 North, Farmington, Ut] on Friday March 24 at 11:00 am. Viewing times will be Thursday, March 23 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. and Friday, March 24 from 9:45–10:45 a.m.
