Bruce Grant Bishop

January 31, 1964 — December 28, 2017

We express with great sadness and broken hearts of the passing of Bruce Grant Bishop, husband of Cristin Jeanne Bishop and the father of four children Rebecca, Zachary, Emily Vega (Adoni, Lyla & Ryker), Sarah, and step father to Nicolas and Spencer (Michaela & Dechlan) Betker, and Jackson, Cora, and Dexter Smith. He died on December 28th, 2017 after a short, but aggressive battle against kidney cancer. He was born to Clare and Ila Bishop on January 31, 1964 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He grew up in Woods Cross, Utah where he graduated from Woods Cross High School. He attended Dixie College and later graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelors in Accounting. While living and working in St. Louis, MO he earned his Executive MBA from Washington University. At the age of 19, he served an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Misión Chile Osorno. He continued to use his love of the Spanish language in his work and play.

Bruce was an active member of the LDS church through most of his life and enjoyed serving others through his many callings over the years.

In high school, he was a rockstar on both the basketball court and the football field, earning a full ride scholarship to Dixie College. He spent his life loving sports and teaching his kids to do the same! He spent most of his professional career with Monsanto, working his way to the position of International Auditor and traveling the world to perform his duties, 38 countries to be exact.

Bruce loved his kids! He spent every minute he could engaging them in cards, movies, sporting events, and time at the cabin. The legacy he leaves is one of love; for family, friends, and LIFE!

Bruce was a lover of the outdoors, spending as much time at the family cabin as he could. He was a man of courage and goodness, an example of the true meaning of love of family. He had a contagious smile, quick wit, and always found ways to make others laugh. He was an example for good, love, and friendship to all that knew him.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Cristin Bishop. He is also survived by Cindy Johnston, the mother of his children, and the children and grandchildren mentioned above, and his mother Ila Bishop, brothers Brad (Celia), Scott, Mark (Marianne). He was the “favorite” to countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bruce was welcomed home by his father, Clare Bishop, who passed last May.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Kaysville 4th Ward chapel on 875 E. 200 N., Kaysville, UT.
