Bruce Hinojosa

May 11, 1953 — July 7, 2011

Bruce Val Hinojosa, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his home in Centerville, due to cancer related illness. He was born May 11, 1953 to Marlene Cherry and Val Hinchcliff. Upon the death of his father, he was adopted and raised by his mother, Marlene, and Paul Hinojosa in Layton, Utah. He attended school at Layton High School and graduated 1971. Bruce was employed at Ryder Logistics. He served his country with the US Army, from 1971 to 1980. Being stationed in Georgia, Hawaii, Alabama and Texas. He married Alicia Shaffer in 1972 with whom he had two beautiful daughters – his pride and joy. After his tour of duty, returning to Utah, he was divorced, keeping close to his daughters at all times. Bruce remarried in 1998 to Dee Ann Tate and gained a son and another daughter. He loved his children and grandchildren – they were his life. He was always giving to others. He gave to all and loved them all unconditionally. Bruce never asked for anything in return. He loved to debate and tell tales with anyone who would listen to him. He was an enthusiastic supporter of his children and grandchildren sports and activities. He was an avid fan of BYU and Chicago Bears. Preceded in death by his mother, Marlene; father, Val; sisters, Alice Mascarenas, Linda Hinchcliff, and Helen Hinojosa. Survived by his wife, Dee Ann; children, Nickie Morris (Jerad), Wendy Hinojosa (Herb), Colin Veltman (Kerri) and Brooke Cloward (Brett); 13 grandchildren – who are the love of his life; his father, Paul Hinojosa; his brothers, Paul Hinojosa Jr. (Mykin), Monty Hinojosa (Brenda), John Hinojosa (Michele); his in-laws, Terry and Karen Tate; sister-in-law, Jill Burt (Bob), brother-in-laws, David Tate (Tina), Jim Tate, Michael Tate (Amy), Mark Tate (Suzanne); and a large extended Tate family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where a viewing will be held Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
