Bruce Ross Peterson passed away at home with his family surrounding him in the early morning hours of November 15, 2015 after suffering a decline in health over the past several months. He was born March 11, 1930 in Oakley, UT to Mark Harper Peterson and Marie Erma Ross. Bruce married his sweetheart and eternal companion Carol Ann Brown in the Salt Lake Temple on August 5, 1957. Bruce and Carol raised seven children together, served two LDS missions, and spent their lives teaching, by example, how to serve and love everyone they came in contact with.
Bruce attended the University of Utah before embarking on his first LDS mission to South Africa in 1950 at the age of 20. After his return, he served for a short time in the Army before attending Brigham Young University where he met Carol. Bruce’s service in the LDS church spanned 70 years including service as a bishop and a temple worker for more than 25 years. Bruce’s true passions were vacationing with his family, including countless camping trips, and cruising with his wife Carol in their retirement years.
Bruce will be best remembered as a faithful and genuine disciple of Jesus Christ who made others the focus of his life. He was a people person in the truest sense who enjoyed nothing more than conversing with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Carol; his seven children: Eric Peterson (Cyndi); Karen Williams (Doug); Jeanette Harris (Gregg); Julie Bastian (Eric); Todd Peterson; Lisa Merrill (Brian); and Shaun Peterson (Angela); 38 grandchildren; and a growing number of great-grandchildren.
