Bryan Penrod Aitken

December 15, 1955 — July 9, 2017

Our loving husband, father and grandfather, Bryan Penrod Aitken passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on July 9, 2017 after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
Bryan was born on December 15, 1955 in Murray, Utah to Bernell and Jean Aitken.  He married his sweetheart, Mindy Passey, on October 7, 1997 blending their families and starting their beautiful journey.  Bryan leaves behind his dear wife along with 6 children and 12 beautiful grandchildren who adore him. Monica (Josh) Jones, Bryan Shaun (Kendra) Aitken, Daniel (Haylee) Aitken, Heather (Tim) Cartwright, Marchele (Stuart) Roskelley, and Clyde Jason Reaveley.
Bryan was preceded in death by both his father and mother and his brother Jerry Aitken.  He is survived by his loving sister Janell (Kevin) Dunn, and brothers Ronald(Ann) Aitken, Robert(Lori)Aitken and Brad Aitken.
Bryan graduated from Spanish Fork High School after which he pursued a career as a heavy construction equipment mechanic.  Bryan was a hardworking, well respected, and loyal employee.  He spent nearly his entire career working as a field mechanic for Scott Machinery and in remote diagnostics for Honnen Equipment (formerly Scott Machinery).  Bryan was an active member of the LDS Church, he loved his Father in Heaven and the peace that the gospel brought to his life.  Bryan served in many callings over the years, but especially loved the years he spent in scouting.   Bryan's hobbies included, hunting with his brothers, fishing, cooking, singing and wood working. He loved the mountains, lakes, and dirt roads.   He was a history buff and also loved to watch football and basketball especially the Utah Jazz!  Bryan could fix, build, or restore literally anything!   Family was truly the most important thing to Bryan- he loved to cook Sunday dinners and plan barbeques to bring us all together.  Bryan loved to listen and talk with the kids and grandkids, he was always patient and loving and never rushed them along.  Bryan could talk to anyone he met, and made everyone feel important to him.  His gentle way, infectious laugh and dumb jokes will truly be missed by his family, friends, and all of those whose paths he has crossed and lives he has touched.
A viewing will be held Thursday July 13, 2017 from 6 – 8pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Bountiful Utah.  Funeral Service will be held Friday July 14, 2017 at 11am in the Porter Lane 2nd ward chapel at 435 West 400 South Centerville, Utah with a viewing prior to services from 9:45 – 10:45am.
