On August 26th, we lost a very special and unique husband, father, brother, and friend. He was a force in all our lives that will never be equaled or forgotten. Buff Bangerter, with his adoring wife by his side, passed away peacefully in his home from heart failure. Buff was born on February 2, 1945 to Marsha Wilcken Willey and Adolph Nathan Bangerter. Buff spent his early years growing up in Bountiful Utah.
He knew from a young age he wanted to be a mechanic and work with his hands. Buff began his own business out of his home garage, Buff’s Auto Repair, and became full-time self-employed in 1984. After his family, his business was his pride and joy. He was well known for his work ethic, trustworthiness, and honest dealings.
Buff was first married to Lynda Baker on May 18, 1965. They had two boys, Troy (Kristy) and Chad. They later divorced. Buff met his wife Sheryl Curdie of 38 years in 1976. They were married on May 29, 1981. Four children soon followed, Jo-Lonna (Justin), Brianna (Bill), Ladd (Andrea), and Landon (Caitlin).
He hovered over his yard and home with a protective eye, no weed or dog outfoxed him. Known for his quiet nature, straightforwardness, and colorful sense of humor. He was always ready with a good joke and we will miss that twinkle in his eye and his devious smile. He had countless friends. Everywhere and anywhere he went someone would stop him to say, “Hello!”
He is survived by his wife Sheryl and former wife Lynda, his sister Merrilyn, his six children, all of whom he was so proud of and his very special thirteen grandchildren Madison Elizabeth (Shay), Katelyn, Cole, Aspen, Itzel, Quickyn, Oden, Jason, Brogan, Syver, Nash, Torrick, and Zoey, his adorable three great grandchildren Brinklee Elizabeth, Preslee MonRoe, and Kenadee Lyn and his beloved dog BoJangles and granddog Cosmo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ron and Dee, and sisters Joanne, Heidi, and Gretchen, his precious dogs Shylo, Taya, and granddogs Thor and Asher.
He will be deeply missed for the rest of our lives. We love you Dad.
It was Buff’s wish that he be cremated and that no funeral be held. He wanted to be remembered the way he was in life, not death. His wife and children welcome family, neighbors and friends to a casual gathering to celebrate his life at The Timbermine Steakhouse in Ogden on October 5, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a botanical garden or planting a tree in his name.
