Burnis Lee Peart was born, September 20, 1934, in Goshen, Utah, to John and Emma C. Peart. He was married to Marilyn Joy Bowman September 6, 1957, solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was the father of 5 children who were all sealed in the Salt Lake Temple: Marti and Michelle, Sherri and Alan (Gowans), Traci and James (Ellis-Sherinian), Frank and Tracey, Kerry and Laura. He was also the grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Dad was a military man who loved his family and his country. He served in the Marines, followed by 33 years of service in the Air Force in the 419 Tactical Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base as an Aviation Engineer, servicing airplanes.
He loved being outdoors where he shared his love of hunting and sports with his family. He was a professional trap shooter, traveling all over the country for competitions. He was also an avid golfer taking pride in teaching his grandchildren to the play the game. He and Marilyn shared a love of being part of numerous bowling leagues, where his children spent many nights watching their parents compete. He also had a strong love of basketball even working as a referee for many years.
Dad instilled the value of hard work in his family. He was always there beside his children helping them remodel their homes, using the time he spent with them as teaching moments where we all learned to work with sheetrock and finishing walls. Those times were filled with long lunch dates and enjoying his dry sense of humor. And just like his favorite cowboy, John Wayne, Dad has ridden off into the sunset looking for his next adventure.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, and his wife Marilyn.
