C. Susan Petters, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, left us unexpectedly on February 27, 2024, leaving a legacy of love, service, and devotion. Susan was born on December 18, 1961, in Murray, Utah, the youngest child of Harry and Janice Slade, both of whom preceded her in death.
Susan's life was marked by her unwavering commitment to serving others and her profound love for learning. After graduating from Granite high school, and working for a bit, she served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Minneapolis, Minnesota, spreading joy and compassion to all she encountered. Upon her return, she studied at Brigham Young University in Provo, where she met the love of her life, Stephen Petters. They married a year later on August 15, 1986 and eventually welcomed into their home six amazing children.
Throughout her life, Susan exemplified the virtues of kindness, resilience, and generosity. As a piano teacher, she nurtured the talents of countless students, instilling in them a passion and love for music. As a military spouse, Susan embraced the challenges of a nomadic lifestyle, taking care of her family in assignments from Japan and England to Virginia and New Mexico…17 different homes in 27 years. Despite the constant change, she remained steadfast in her love and support for her family, creating a warm and nurturing home wherever they went.
Susan's faith played a central role in her life, and she served diligently in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a wide variety of ward and stake positions. No matter what the assignment, her heart was always in the primary, working with the children. Her service extended far beyond her local congregation; at the time of her passing Susan was serving a service mission for the Church.
Susan's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Her gentle spirit, compassionate nature, and unwavering faith will be dearly missed. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire future generations.
Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen, her sisters Marlene (Rick) and Kathy (Rod), brother Robert (Jenny) and her children—Aaron (Vanessa), Mitchell (Kristi), Briana, Selena, Natasha, and Keegan—as well as five grandchildren.
