Calvin Dean Ferrin

February 8, 1935 — February 18, 2017

Calvin Dean Ferrin, 82, passed away February 18, 2017 at his home in Farmington, Utah.

He was born February 8, 1935 in Salt Lake City, UT to parents: John Josiah Ferrin and Pearl Leone Shaw Ferrin

He graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah.  He married Dian Johnson on September 19, 1958 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple.  He served in the U.S. Army.  Calvin was a security guard at Kennecott Copper for 25 years and custodian for the L.D.S Church for 10 years.  He held many many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission in the Netherlands Mission.  He served faithfully in the Bountiful Temple for 17 years.

Calvin was a very loving husband and could always be seen holding Dian's hand.  His passions were his family, reading scriptures, BYU sports, gardening, scouting, hunting, fishing, dutch oven cooking, and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Dian, and eight children: Gayle (Frankie) Moore, Ross (Colleen) Ferrin, Garth (Brenda) Ferrin, Reed (Elizabeth) Ferrin, Amber (Rodney) Sonzini, Rick (Cecelia) Ferrin, Amy (Brad) Heaton, Alisa (Mike) Gilbert, sister Leah Fay Ferrin Evans, 42 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Gary, and brothers Jay, Ralph and Alvin Ferrin.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Compton Bench Chapel 850 North Compton Road, Farmington, UT.  Viewings will be Thursday, February 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 1941 N Main St, Farmington, UT and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.  Interment: Kaysville Cemetery.
