Calvin K Fadel, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed peacefully in his sleep after a longstanding battle with cancer. We will never forget his tremendous strength, courage, positive attitude, and patience in the face of his health concerns. He would like for us to express his profound gratitude to his caregivers and the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their incredible care over the last 16 years.
Cal was born on April 30, 1954, the second of four children to Raymond and Joanne Fadel. He grew up in Bountiful, Utah and graduated from Bountiful High School in 1972. Cal worked as a Farmers Insurance Agent in Farmington, Utah for over 40 years where he cherished many friendships made. Cal married the love of his life, Barbara Gull, and would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this 19th of June. Together, they became the parents of two boys, Erick and Kyle.
Cal was a dedicated and loving father. He spent countless hours coaching and motivating his sons in their sports activities. With his infectious laugh, he made his home a safe and welcoming place for all friends to come to. He taught his sons about hard work. Cal loved to work with his hands and appreciated the beauty of a self-done job. He relished in his home projects and helping his sons with theirs. Cal was full of wisdom and knowledge. His sons will greatly miss calling their dad for advice on how to fix something around the house, or which tree to plant in the yard.
Cal is survived by his wife, Barbara, and their sons: Erick (Whitney) and Kyle (Emily), and three grandchildren: Abby, Lily, and Jack, which he adored; his siblings: Rick (Marla), Cynthia (Jeff) Fleming, and Darlene (Jim) Kauerz; his mother-in-law, Maurine Gull, brother-in-law, LaMar (Pilar) Gull, and sister-in-law, Shirleen Gull; also, countless cousins and friends. Cal is preceded in death by his father, Raymond, mother, Joanne, and father-in-law, Theron Gull.
Cal was a lover of all things outdoors. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends, and exploring the world on motorcycle trips. His greatest time was spent in his immaculate and breathtaking gardens. He dedicated his life to creating a space of pure beauty and joy. It is in these gardens that we will honor Cal with a celebration of life on Saturday, June 12th from 6-9pm. Our family welcomes all who would like to join us for this casual celebration at their home at 184 West State Street Farmington, UT.
