Carl Lynn Ashcraft passed away peacefully on July 9, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 27, 1945, to Samuel Ray and Elna Carlson Ashcraft in Tremonton, Utah. He attended Bear River High school where he excelled in swimming and track, and later attended Utah State, the University of Utah, and Weber State, where he studied geology.
He married Amy Fukuda and they had 2 sons, Stuart Lynn, and Jeffrey Mark Ashcraft. They later divorced. He married Sharon Lee Woodland on August 10,1985 and they added 2 more children to the family, Ana Veronica and Christopher Jacob Ashcraft.
He owned and operated the Bug Inn in Salt Lake City and spent his career repairing and rebuilding foreign cars. During that time, he served as Business Liaison on the board of The Road Home, where he expanded his understanding of and compassion for the homeless population in downtown Salt Lake. After he retired, he and Sharon built their cabin in Island Park, of which he was extremely proud. It is beautiful and is a testament to his wide-ranging abilities. One day, Christopher said, “my dad can do ANYTHING” and Mark has since added “and if he doesn’t already know how, he can figure it out”.
He, Sharon, and Chris spent a number of years reenacting the fur-trade era, Lynn immersing himself in everything “Lewis & Clark”. He loved black powder rifles, campfires, and dutch oven dinners.
Lynn was a highly intelligent, adventurous, and naturally happy individual. He loved his family and was a loyal and sincere friend. He will be missed more than we could ever say. We love you Dad!
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his children; Stuart (Melanie), Mark (Vanesa), Veronica, and Christopher (Myke); 7 grandchildren, Amy, Shelbi, Devon, Jasmine, Ozzy, and Abby; and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn (Boyd) Fullmer, and sister-in-law, Marian Ashcraft. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Ashcraft; his aunts and uncles; and a nephew.
The viewing will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah and will be immediately followed by the memorial service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Interment - Centerville City Cemetery.
