I returned to the waiting arms of my Heavenly Father in the early morning onJuly 18, 2018 after spending the night being held by loved ones. I lived with chronic illness for many years, the result of chemical meningitis. I cannot say it ruined my life, but it certainly changed the direction my life took. One thing it did not change is the love I have for my three children with whom I have been blessed, or the love for my beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren. If I leave nothing else of value in this life, I leave society better off for the efforts of my wonderful family. My daughter Kenna works helping individuals with disabilities move toward employment, my son Eric is an artist who hand makes beautiful leather products, and my son Bret is the fire Marshall for the City of Orem. They are my legacy, along with their families.
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and have had many opportunities to better myself in primary and relief society jobs. I also worked in the mutual with teens, and that was probably my favorite assignment. I spent happy years working in the Salt Lake and Bountiful temples. I loved to paint in watercolor and on silk. I had the unusual and delightful opportunity to sing in the choir of the Utah Opera Company for 8 years. It was there that I met my husband, Robert Barrett, whom I was privileged to be married to for about 20 years. Our marriage was one of the casualties of chronic illness and I have been delighted to see him remarried and happy. My love goes to him and Kathy and to their family – to our grandchildren – the ones we shared from his side of the family – I love all of you.
I was preceded in death by my grandparents, Ben and Sylvia Briggs of Newdale, ID and Charles and Alberta England of Rexburg, ID. Also my dear brothers James J. and Charles England, my Uncle Murray Briggs, and my mother Stella Hardy.
I am leaving behind my sisters Shirley (Gordon) Clark of Newdale, ID and Trudy Blackbern of Salt Lake City, UT, and my Aunt Ruby Morris of Ogden, UT. I love them very much. Also my daughter, Kenna (Sam) Arcury, son Eric Larsen (both of Bountiful, UT) and Bret (Dawnie) Larsen of Pleasant Grove, UT. They have been the greatest blessings in my life, along with their children, my beautiful grandchildren, Jenni Arcury, Amber Arcury, Alyssa (Austin) Brown, Jesse Larsen, Kali (Jeremy) Anderson and Lauren Larsen. Great grandchildren are Sidnee Arcury, Jordan Hendricks and Brienna Beebe, daughters of Jenni, and new great grandsons, Krew Anderson and Benjamin Brown, sons of Kali and Alyssa. I also leave behind many wonderful nieces and nephews and their children. I love you all dearly.
I leave behind many wonderful friends. Sue Ann Walker and Chee Hansen have been my friends for most of my life and hold a very special place in my heart. Thanks to all of my friends for their love and support over the years.
From Kenna – Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the Nurses and staff at North Canyon Care Center, where our mother spent the last few days of her life, and to the wonderful support from the Staff at Envision who provided hospice services to help reduce her pain. We are blessed to have had a week from the moment we found she had stage 4 bone cancer, until she passed. She was able to see many of the people that she loved before she passed and it was a true gift for her. We are also blessed that it was only a week and she was not subjected to longer suffering. Mom, we all love you so very much. We are going to miss you more than words can say. I hope the angels carried you at the speed of light to those you love who were waiting on the other side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 23, 2018, at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 P.M. and Monday morning at 9:45-10:45 A.M. prior to services.
