Carol Ann Driggs

Carol Ann Driggs passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in Centerville, Utah, on December 31, 2024, at the age of 84. The oldest of 3 children born in Provo, Utah, on May 1, 1940, to Max Melbourne Cox and Berma Cox, Carol’s youth was spent in the Hayward, California area.

Years after meeting her sweetheart in high school, Kenneth Gordon Driggs, they were married and sealed for time and all eternity on March 18, 1972, in the Oakland Temple. Without question, her eternal companion Ken and six children and many grandchildren were the light of her life and her pride and joy. She was a devoted and loving, supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. Carol and her sweetheart worked hard to make their house a home and a haven for all of their family, first in the San Francisco Bay Area and then in various parts of Utah including Orangeville, Farmington, Bountiful, and Mountain Green.

Carol was full of life and loved being surrounded by her family as well as her friends. She was often found at voice lessons or giving voice lessons to those who asked. She loved music and being surrounded by music whether she was teaching, singing, or listening to her children or grandchildren perform. Music was her joy and her peace!

Carol Ann was known for her beautiful soprano voice. Carol and Ken shared a love of music and hearing them sing together was a wonderful, sweet treat. They happily used and shared their musical talents throughout their lives, including to write much of the music for the original Castle Valley Pageant while they resided in Orangeville, Utah.

Carol was a wonderful homemaker and cook. From Christmas ham to tuna noodle casserole, Carol could do it all. She was known for her baked goods, especially her homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, and bran muffins, a recipe still in use by her family and friends. She was an excellent self-taught seamstress. She made Christmas PJs for all six children as well as Ken for many years and was often found late at night sewing to complete precious gifts given to her children. Carol knew how to stretch her pennies and make the most of them. Through these talents, she was able to help provide during lean years as well as good ones.

Carol’s testimony of her Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ, was solid and immovable. She studied her scriptures daily and attended religion classes when she could to learn about being a daughter of God. Her sets of scriptures are full of notes and the many things she learned and felt were important throughout her life. They are now a treasure for her children and grandchildren. Carol served faithfully in many church callings throughout the years, including Stake and Ward Relief Society, and many callings to teach.

Carol was preceded in death by her sweetheart Ken, her parents and her two siblings Marilyn and Robert. She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Gregg Driggs (Becky), Charlyn Tonks (Kenny), Julie Johnson, David Driggs (Kathy), Katie Barraclough (Ben), and Max Driggs (Suzie), 23 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Parrish Heights Ward Building located at 610 North Rowland Way, Centerville, Utah. Friends and family may attend a viewing that morning from 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
