Carol Forsey

March 30, 1930 — July 9, 2014

Carol Lucile Dooley Forsey, 84, passed away at home surrounded by her family July 9, 2014 in North Salt Lake, Utah, due to complications from diabetes and a stroke. Carol was born March 30, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lucile Barlow and Albert Wilmer Dooley. One day, not by chance, she met James Garry Forsey, a handsome soldier on a Trailways bus in the middle of Nevada, and two years later they married on July 16, 1954 in the LDS Manti Temple. Although apart, they will celebrate 60 years of an eternal marriage one week after her passing.
From six years of age, Carol grew up in southern California with her family. The courses she took in high school prepared her to be a stenographer, and upon graduation she secured a job as a private secretary, and then attended junior college for about six months. Carol attended Brigham Young University, and then worked at Citizen’s National Trust and Savings Bank. Later she also worked at MCI.
Among her many interests and talents, Carol loved the arts. She received great joy expressing herself through singing, speaking and writing. And from the age of twelve, she enjoyed her “life upon the stage.” She loved to read good books (the story of Don Quixote was one of her favorites), and even later in her life, when seeing to read was not possible, she listened to book after book, and beautiful music.
Carol and Garry have given a great legacy of love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. They were blessed with five children who all served full-time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She taught Relief Society and spent a lot of time doing family history research as an avid genealogist. She served in helping others do their family history research, as well. She served as a Stake Missionary for the Church, and from May 1995-May 1996 she and Garry served as full-time Family History Missionaries. During the last twenty years of Carol’s life, she struggled with her health. Though she was home bound, Carol always found ways to share her testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel with others.
Carol’s greatest accomplishments were those as a full-time wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful seamstress, fabulous cook, and had fun decorating her home, especially during the holidays. She continually used her time and talents to bless the lives of her family and friends. Some of her favorite things were to go camping every year at Fish Lake with her family, BYU football, listening to Neil Diamond, playing Skip-Bo, shopping and hot fudge sundaes!
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Brighton Hospice for going above and beyond the mark to help provide Carol with excellent care and service during her final days with us.
Carol is survived by her husband, Garry; her sister, Patsy Ann “Pat” Henderson; children, Carol Diane (Kevin) Jones, Phillip James (Terri), Kent Garry (Sandra), Laura Lee (Thomas) Mormon, Paul Howard (Ann-Marie); 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Albert Barlow “Bill” Dooley (October 30, 2013).
Viewing, Monday, July 14, 2014 between 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. Viewing also from 9:45-10:45 a.m. before funeral services Tuesday, July 15, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church, 261 E. Center Street, North Salt Lake, UT. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 E. Lakeview Dr., Bountiful, Utah.
