Carol Jean Bittner

February 14, 2015 — April 7, 2015

Carol Jean Bittner was born February 14, 1946, in Springfield, Massachusetts, weighing 2 lbs. 4 oz.; it was a miracle that she lived. She moved with her parents to Salt Lake City in 1950 and graduated from West High School in 1964. Carol served a mission for the L.D.S. Church in the Northern California Mission between 1967 and 1968. She earned a BS and an MS degree in audiology and speech pathology from Brigham Young University as well as a second MS degree in educational administration from the University of Utah.
Carol was named Utah's Handicapped Person of the Year in 1973. She loved teaching young children with all her heart and had an accomplished 27 year professional career with the Alpine School District. She spent the last 10 years of her career as a school principal in special education.
Carol's life goal was accomplished when she sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1977 to 1998. Traveling the world and singing with her best friends was the joy of her life.
Carol passed away from heart failure on April 7, 2015. She is survived by her brothers Frederick Warren Bittner (wife Nancy) and Jonathan Chester Bittner (wife Judy) and her eight nephews and nieces.
We, Carol's family, wish to thank Adagio Hospice and Avalon Care Center for their wonderful care of Carol during the last few months of her life. We especially recognize and thank the many neighbors and friends who have shown Christ-like love and given countless hours of service to Carol over the past several years.
A funeral service honoring Carol will be held at the L.D.S. church building at 1125 North 400 West, Centerville, Utah, on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. Friends may call beginning that day at 12:30 p.m. Following the funeral, an interment service will be held at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
