Carol Mears Weisbord

August 1, 1928 — May 11, 2017

Carol Mears Weisbord was born on August 1, 1928 in Fairfield, Idaho. She passed away on May 11, 2017 in Bountiful, Utah, surrounded by family.

Carol raised four sons. She was a fun mom, always involved in the lives of her children. Her home was the “hangout home.” She was a “second mother” to a generation of boys who went to her frequently for advice and counsel.

Carol was also a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother! She had a special way of connecting with children. She would find special and unique ways to bond with each of her grandchildren, helping them to feel very special and loved.

Carol had a real talent for writing! She wrote and directed many roadshows, plays, and other productions throughout her life. She had a great sense of humor, and almost everything she wrote had elements of comedy involved. After moving to California in 1976, she spent a few years writing comedy professionally in Hollywood. She later returned to a career in nursing, which she loved. She retired from nursing at age 83.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings. She especially loved serving as a primary president and a relief society teacher in the Northridge Ward. Carol was a friend to everyone, and she enjoyed her associations with many friends from her nursing career, her ward, and her neighborhood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret George and Joseph Heber Moon, as well as her siblings: Harris, Jean, Kay, and Howard. She was also preceded in death by two of her sons: Steven William Mears, who passed away at birth, as well as Bradley Mears. Her second husband, Morton Weisbord passed away in 1995. We’re certain that she is having a joyful reunion with her family and friends who went before her.

She is survived by three sons: Gary Mears (Syd), Rick Mears (Lezli), and Trent Mears (Cynthia). She is also survived by grandchildren: Jamie Mears, Jonny Mears (Hailey), Kacee Kraczek (John), Haley Mears, Riley Mears, Bailee Collier, and Madisen Collier. She has six great-grandchildren: Cloey, Tayah, Sean, Cody, Kammron, and Sahvanna.

Our family would like to give a special thanks to all those who helped care for our mother and grandmother. We would also like to thank her friends for the love and support that they gave her.

A viewing will be held Monday evening, May 15, from six o’clock to eight o’clock in the evening at Russon Brother’s Mortuary in Farmington, UT. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at eleven o’clock at the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery: 1640 Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, UT.
