Our fun-loving mom, Carol Jean Crawford Moore, 90, died peacefully on July 4, 2024, and was reunited with her husband Gene.
Carol was born February 22, 1934, in Springdale, Utah to John William and Madge Jones Crawford. She loved Zion National Park and spent much time there as her father worked on many building projects, including the famous Zion tunnel.
The family moved to Ogden when she was young, which led to her meeting Gene and the beginning of their life journey. They were married April 8, 1952, in Elko, Nevada and later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Carol and Gene loved the outdoors and went on many camping trips. They have fond memories of living in Alaska and the many friends they made there and the adventures they had.
Upon returning to Utah, they moved to Bountiful where the family thrived among many friends and had many wonderful experiences. Some favorite times were summer holiday gatherings playing volleyball and other activities and enjoying Dutch oven chicken. Carol especially enjoyed joining the grandchildren on the slip and slide and playing games. We have memories as a family going jet skiing, Seven Peaks and doing the fishpond on the Fourth of July in Centerville. The grandchildren will always remember that she welcomed them into her house and they enjoyed making movies in the basement with Uncle Blake and jumping on the trampoline. She always made the holidays fun at her house. She was a great cook and we loved her treats.
Carol always loved music. She sang in the ward choirs and played the organ. She loved serving in her many church callings, including Mission Mother to her missionaries in the Jamaica Kingston Mission when Gene was the Mission President. She was also an Ordinance worker and a sealing office worker when Gene, was a Temple sealer. They served in the Bountiful Temple and the St. George Temple and enjoyed serving the Lord together.
Upon returning from their mission, the red rocks of Zion were calling Carol and Gene and they moved to St. George where they loved golfing, bowling and playing games with Carol’s siblings and anyone else they could get to play with them.
Carol is survived by her six children; Vicki (Jerry Beckman), DeEtte (Lyman Gifford), Craig (Cynthia) Moore, Leslie (Brad Rosser), Dave (Kona Dee) Moore and Blake (Jeanette) Moore, and 28 grandchildren and 57 great children with one on the way. Preceded in death by her spouse Gene and two grandchildren, Tate Moore, Derek Beckman, son-in-law Brad Rosser and daughter-in-law Guilma Moore.
Our family would like to express our gratitude and love to the Layton Fairfield Rehabilitation Center and also the Creekside Senior Living and Hospice. They were so kind and loving to her.
