Carol was born Feb. 27, 1936, in Parker Dam, California, to Carl A. and Wanda Bushnell Pulsipher. Carol was sealed to her sweetheart, Galen J. Smith in the S.L. Temple on May 23, 1957. She met him while attending the U. of U., where she majored in Child Development. They traveled the world, as Galen was a pilot for United Airlines. They had 60 years together and delighted in the triumphs of their four sons; Bret (JeaNette) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Steve (the late Julie) of Bountiful, Scott (Jenna) of Bountiful, and Kendall, of Denver, Colorado.
Carol was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served wherever asked. She served in many Ward and Stake Presidencies in the women's organizations, Y.W., Primary, and Relief Society. She also served on the General Y.W. board. She loved her visiting teaching assignments, but her favorite call was to teach the youth, the rising generation. She served as a hostess at the Church Office Bldg. for 12 years. She and her husband served a mission in Nauvoo from 2005 till 2007, and a Family Service mission for the Addiction Recovery Program. She and her husband were also ordinance workers in the Bountiful Temple for 10 years. She said of her callings, "Each has been a privilege and has allowed humility and growth. I love the Lord and know Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer." She lived by the adage, "Be good and do good."
In her younger years Carol loved to ski at Park City and golf anywhere. Two of her favorite places to vacation were Hawaii and Jackson Hole, as she loved the beauties of nature. She loved to laugh and smile as she saw humor in most situations. She also loved live theater (especially musicals). She enjoyed decorating, reading and belonged to, and was the past president of the "Femme de Lettres" Book Club.
She is survived by her husband, Galen J. Smith, her sons and their and wives, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sister, Joyce (Larry) Lowder, and brother, Dennis (Dixie) Pulsipher. She was preceded in death by her parents and two of her sisters, Melva Bigler and Marva Chappell.
