Carol Ball McKee Stahle passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12th in Bountiful, Utah. Carol was born on December 21, 1938, in Redmesa, Colorado to James Elihu Ball and Lura Slade Dunn. She was welcomed by four older brothers James, Floyd (Barbara), Mel (Karen), and Norm (Nancy). Her family later moved to Provo, Utah where her mother married Norman Dunn.
Carol attended Provo High School where she met lifelong friends, won sewing competitions, fell in love with dancing and excelled at education. She graduated in 1957. She was then able to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her parents in the British Mission from 1957-1959.
Afterwards she continued as a secretary assisting the London Temple president and matron.Upon arriving home, Carol married Gary Dennis in 1959 at the Los Angeles Temple. They welcomed Robin to their family, and then Terry. Both babies were born too early and only lived one day. Gary Lee (Gail) was their pride and joy. Later they welcomed baby Andrea.
Their family wasn't complete until Heather (Ryan) came along a few years later. Chai (Cheryl) came as a foreign exchange student and became a permanent fixture in her life. Carol married Jan V. McKee in the Salt Lake Temple in 1984 where she was blessed with three stepchildren: Stacy (Chad), Tammy (James), and Kendall. They started their blended family in Bountiful, Utah. They were blessed with 18 grandchildren during their time together. Love, Friendship, Faith and Family were important parts of the beautiful life they created.
After Jan's passing, Carol married Richard Gail Stahle in 2020. They moved to St. George, Utah. Carol was thrilled to add Gail's seven wonderful children, Dick (Ann), Scott (Leslie), Sheila (Hayes), Lorie (Mitch), Reed (Julie), David (Carol), Clark (Jenn), his grandchildren and great grandchildren to her family. She was overjoyed with their love and support. Carol and Gail only had a few years together, but they teased, laughed, and enjoyed the warm weather and cold ice cream. Carol and Gail forgot that sometimes age really is a number when they decided to adopt a baby. They raised their pride and joy for three years. They named their tiny Maltese puppy Coco Puff. Her sweet pup curled up in a ball and lay next to her during her last moments of life.
Carol was one of Heavenly Father's most choice daughters. She loved him, and her Savior Jesus Christ, and faithfully listened and acted on the promptings of the Holy Ghost. She accepted any calling asked of her and magnified it. When she became the family history specialist in her ward, she helped people write and compile their own life stories. This was something she was continuing to do up until her death. Carol enjoyed playing the piano and the organ, and loved going to the Sunday broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word and the Tabernacle Choir. Music touched her soul. She feasted on the words of the Bible, the Book of Mormon, modern-day prophets, seers and revelators.
Carol was an advocate for lifelong learning. She was finally able to go to college when she became an empty nester. Carol attended Weber State University focusing on Interior Design. She had a talent for sewing clothing, blankets, curtains and pillows for herself and others. Carol was blessed with many skills and abilities. But probably her best talent was that of being an avid and faithful collector. Not a collector of things, but of people. Everyone was Carol's dear friend. People didn't just gravitate to her, she pulled them in and never let them go. She wanted everyone to feel loved, valued and appreciated. She showed people her Savior's love through her actions, words and deeds.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, James, Floyd and Mel, her sister Merry Joy, her husbands, Jan and Gail, and her children, Robin, Terry, Heather and Kendall, her son-in-law James, and grand-children, Kjersti and Marilee.
Carol's funeral will be held on August 24th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 20th ward chapel located at 102 East 1400 South, Bountiful, Utah, where a visitation will be held from 10:00-10:40 a.m. prior to the services.
