Carol Van Tussenbrook 92, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in Bountiful, Utah. She was born December 24, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Magnus Dale Olson and Edith Poulton. Carol grew up in the Sugarhouse area and loved sharing memories of sampling penny candy and ice cream delights from her father?s confectionary. Carol graduated from South High and then worked as a gifted seamstress at Maloufs in Salt Lake City. She caught the eye of Eugene Tuss Van Tussenbrook and became Mrs. Van Tussenbrook August 2, 1941. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. She and Tuss had three beautiful children who were the center of their lives. Carol was an artist at heart, awed by breathtaking sunsets, vibrant fall leaves, and every type of flower or bloom. She was a talented floral designer and artist, creating beautiful timeless paintings that will be cherished forever. Carol adored her family and always treasured each moment with them. She created a legacy of honesty, hard work, reliability and determination. She was always a lady, putting others first, endlessly loving her children, grandchildren, and friends unconditionally. She had a soft sweet presence that always left one smiling after spending time with her. She spent several years lovingly and tirelessly caring for her eternal sweetheart Tuss, following his debilitating stroke. Whether holding a wooden spoon, a paintbrush, or a sewing needle, Carol was always creating something beautiful for someone else. She loved to read and was a life-long learner, always encouraging her children and grandchildren to be the same. She served in many callings and touched many lives as a member of the LDS Church. She was proud to be a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
