Carolyn Fay Carr

February 17, 1936 — July 3, 2012

Carolyn Fay Healy Carr, known affectionately as Toni, passed away July 3, 2012, surrounded by her family at her home in Bountiful, Utah, after a valiant battle with multiple myeloma.
Born Feb. 17, 1936, to L. Marvin and Gladys Healy, Toni was raised in Holladay, Utah, and attended Granite and Olympus high schools. She earned her bachelor’s of fine arts degree at the University of Utah, where she met her husband, Lowell Cecil Carr, while at the Institute of Religion. Toni and Lowell were married in the Salt Lake City Temple in June 1959, and she dedicated her life to raising 10 children – Cecile, Bevan, Danielle, Stacey, Jennifer, Melissa, Stanton, Lauren, Craig, and Peter – and one foster son, Luis Castillo. She also has 53 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and she hosted 11 foreign exchange students.
Toni taught at Evergreen and Millcreek junior high schools. She served as one of the first hostesses at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and as a missionary with her husband to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa Mission, and the Russia, Rostov na Donu Mission.
Toni was an accomplished seamstress, making dresses, suits, and clothes for her children; baby blankets for every grandchild; and costumes for school and church functions. She loved music, art, and dancing – talents that she shared with and passed on to her children.
She is survived by her husband, children, and brother, Lawrence M. Healy Jr., and sister, Judy Jensen. Her death was preceded by her parents and her younger brother, Roger Healy. Funeral services will be Friday, July 6, at 1:00 p.m. at the Stone Creek Stake Building, 1000 N. 100 W., in Bountiful. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:00 Thursday evening at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 295 N. Main St. in Bountiful and from 11:30-12:45 at the stake building prior to services. Following the funeral services, Toni will be buried at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery. Messages and tributes can be posted at russonmortuary.com.
