On May 30, 2022, Carrie Carter returned to her heavenly home to the arms of both her earthly and Heavenly Parents. She was born in Denver, Colorado on June 27, 1956 as the third daughter and fifth child of Grant Lael Carter and Rowena Ashton Carter. She is survived by her five siblings, Cherie Rencher (Irvine deceased), Grant Carter (Stephanie), Roger Carter (Kathy), Renee Craigo (Camron) and Mitchell Carter (Paula).
Carrie had an amazing love for life and all its varied delights! She loved horses and always wanted her own calico pony. Growing up she asked multiple times a week for her parents to put a pool in their backyard and could spend hours on a floaty at the lake or public pool. She would cut out pictures from magazines with her pool suggestions. Carrie liked the Lawrence Welk show and was also an original “Trekkie” and insisted that she be home when “Star Trek” was on and could discuss all the episodes. She took ski classes and although she spent a lot of time on the ground, she enjoyed it anyway!
Carrie had a great love for music and had a unique gift and talent that she refined through the years. She played piano, organ, banjo and guitar. Her ear was so good that she could pick up almost any musical instrument and play it. She also sang the leads in several musicals such as Lucy in “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” and Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz” singing solos and carrying the show. She sang other solos at her church. She was so happy when singing and delightful in her performances.
All these things she loved, but in her later years one of her fondest love was Diet Coke. She had uterine cancer and other health issues that she met with optimism and courage. It seemed as though she could overcome any ailment. Her family would ask her if they could do anything for her and her humble request would be for a Diet Coke.
Carrie loved to help others and was a friend to all. In her younger years, she was the best helper at family parties as she would do all the dishes-the world’s nicest dish lady. In 1999 Carrie left home to be more independent. We are so grateful for all those who cared for her in the homes she lived in through the years. She loved her roommates and they loved her. She loved her work at Danville, especially when she was able to work the register. We express special appreciation to the Danville staff members whom she loved and who took such good care of her for many years. She looked forward to and enjoyed celebrating holidays and special occasions with her family but she also loved to come home to her friends.
Though Carrie had earthly limitations, we know that, because of the Savior and the plan of the Father, Carrie is now soaring to new, unimaginable heights in her Celestial home!
There will be a graveside service for Carrie on June 15th at 9:00 am. The service will be held at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com
