There will come a time, you’ll see
With no more tears
And love will not break your heart,
But dismiss your fears
Get over your hill
And see what you find there
With grace in your heart
And flowers in your hair
Caryn Janell Henderson, a shining light that warmed so many people, has gone out far too early. Caryn took her own life on March 24, 2017, breaking the hearts of her mother Beverley Jones Henderson Johnson, siblings Cari (Bret) Jepson, Cathy (Darrell) Redford, Jim (Julie) Henderson, Mike Henderson, Cristin (Peter) Knight, Josh (Natasha) Henderson, nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as her dear friend Joe Church and her families in recovery, Red Eye Coffee, The Belgian Waffle, and many others whose lives she touched like an angel of mercy and kindness.
Caryn was brilliant but humble, stunningly beautiful but never flaunting, generous and loving but private. She loved elephants, softball, mountain dew, Joss Whedon TV series, and sappy romance movies.
Caryn was born October 8, 1981 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Beverley Jones Henderson and James Orel Henderson. She was the baby of 7 siblings, but with nieces and nephews her same age it felt like she belonged to a family of 20. She lived in Bountiful, Utah and Fruit Heights, Utah as a child. Later as a teenager she lived in Randolph, Minnesota and Layton, Utah where she attended Layton High School.
Caryn’s father died when she was five years old. When Caryn was a teenager her mother remarried to Harry Samuel Johnson, who died in 2015. Caryn wholeheartedly loved both men. She frequently visited her father’s grave to talk to him, and she held her relationship with her stepfather dear to her heart. We are comforted knowing they were both there to greet and comfort Caryn when she reached the other side.
Caryn spent several years addicted to alcohol and narcotics, but after successfully completing a rehab program, Caryn threw herself passionately into recovery. She was adamant about attending multiple meetings all week long. She embraced the newcomers and a long list of people who felt the love and warmth of her spirit. She was a source of inspiration and love for so many people in recovery.
Be brave. Caryn will be with us all as we trudge the road to happy destiny.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life with us. A viewing will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary 1941 N Main Street, Farmington. Funeral services Friday March 31 11:00am at the LDS Crestwood Stake, 855 E Mutton Hollow Rd. Kaysville. No dress code required.
