Catherine Mellville Swanger

On February 24, 2013, our Heavenly Father chose to welcome His beloved daughter and our wonderful mother, Catherine Mellville Cooper, into his loving arms. It was our father’s distinct privilege of embracing his eternal companion as she took her last mortal breath. Our mom was born on December 4, 1923, to Edith Leontine Cooper in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she was raised in a loving family with her 7 siblings. She met the love of her life, Glen Dewey Swanger, and they were married in the Logan Temple on August 5, 1947. Mom was the rock of our foundation and the center of our home, choosing motherhood and homemaking as her career. She loved sewing, gardening and reading. She was an active member of the LDS church and was faithful in all of her callings. She is survived by her husband Glen; five children, Susan (Calvin Christopherson), Diane (Paul Wheatley), Glen Jr., Holly (James Brown), and Shane (Heather Ray); 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and one sister Shirley Eiden. She is preceded in death by her mother, 5 sisters and a brother.
A viewing will be held Monday, March 4, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. and again March 5 from 12:45-1:45. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. Both services will be at Russon Brother’s mortuary, 295 North Main Street in Bountiful. Interment will be in the Bountiful Cemetery.
