Catherine Robinson

May 19, 1934 — November 5, 2012

Catherine Morgan Robinson of Centerville, Utah, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2012 after a valiant struggle with cancer. She was born May 19, 1934 in her Grandmother’s home in Price, Utah to George Clarkson and Cora Pace Morgan.
Catherine enjoyed a happy childhood growing up in Price with extended family and cherished friends. Most notably was Geb (Gerald O.) Robinson, whose birth occurred just hours after her own, and who eventually became the sweetheart of her youth and her eternal companion.
While at Carbon High School Catherine enjoyed participating in activities and serving students. She graduated from Carbon College and Brigham Young University in Elementary Education. After becoming engaged to Geb, she taught kindergarten in Las Vegas, Nevada while waiting for him to complete his missionary service. Thanksgiving 1957 saw Geb’s return; they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 20 of that same year.
After completing Geb’s optemetric education in Oregon, during which twin daughters were born, they settled in Bountiful, Utah in 1960. Here they welcomed three more children in consecutive years. At this point Catherine was the busy mother of five children under the age of four years. One more daughter later joined the family.
Catherine had a deep and abiding love of the Savior and was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She especially loved Primary serving in both ward and stake auxiliary presidencies, and enjoyed cherished friendships formed through visiting teaching. She faithfully supported Geb in all of his church duties. Their church service was highlighted with a mission together at the Historic Kirtland Visitor’s Center in Ohio from 2004-05.
Her greatest joy and legacy is her family. She is an extraordinary example of a Christ like wife, mother, and grandmother and served her loved ones throughout her life. Summer days at the Bear Lake cabin, Disney vacations, church history trips and her famous spaghetti and meatball dinners are special memories. Each grandchild’s needs and interests were thoughtfully considered when giving gifts and planning activities. At Christmastime, 2011, having received her diagnosis, she expressed her faith in the Lord’s mindfulness of her circumstances. She gratefully recalled witnessing a broad scope of sacred family events the previous year and shared her favorite scripture, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 John 1:4.
She is survived by her husband and 6 children: Tami Bryson (Jeff), Cami Layton (Richard), Cathy Anne Robinson (Ben), Bruce (Sara Van Alstyne), Sheri Layton (David), and Mindy Lindsay (Scott); 26 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Sister, Jeanne Morgan Wise of Las Vegas, NV, sister in law, Nancy Morgan of Oakley, UT, brother in law, Keith Robinson of Castro Valley, CA, and 9 beloved nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Joseph Morgan III.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012, 12:00 noon at the Centerville 11th Ward, 270 N. 300 E. Centerville, UT. There will be a viewing Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, UT and Saturday morning from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Centerville City Cemetery.
