Cecil Nelson Wells

September 17, 1931 — January 7, 2018

Cecil Nelson Wells returned home to our loving Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 7, 2018, surrounded by his family.  He was born September 17, 1931 to Hugh and Eva Wells in Springfield, Idaho.  He was the youngest of six children.

Cecil served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in Southern California from 1953 to 1955.  Three days after being released from his mission he married his "Luscious Babe" Norma Jean Blake in the St. George Temple.  They were happily married for sixty-two years.

Cecil graduated from UC Berkley with a degree in Criminology.  He was a probation officer for 32 years in Los Angeles, CA.  He and Norma lived in Simi Valley, CA for 28 years where they raised their three children.  After retiring in 1991, he and Norma moved to Bountiful, UT.

Cecil was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings, but his favorite was as an early morning seminary teacher in Simi Valley for 12 years.  His loving example will not be forgotten by those who he served and influenced.  He and Norma also served a mission together in the Washington D.C. Temple followed by a mission at the Bishop's Storehouse in Kaysville, UT.

Cecil loved to golf, cook, and spend time with his family.  He was a very kind, gentle, and loving man.  He lived by his two-sentence sermon, "There is no substitute for good judgement." and "You can't turn the clock back."

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean, three children, Rod (Sandy), Bryan "B.Y", and De Anne (Mark), along with his nine grandchildren, Josh, Keely, Hailey (Stewart), Jordan, Hunter, Shawn, Tanner, Hannah and Halissa.  His door was always open and many others also called him Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Friend and "Legend".

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2017 at the Maple Hills LDS Chapel, 1320 East 1975 South, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 11:30 – 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Graveside service to follow immediately thereafter.
