Charlene Barbara Nye Hogan

February 21, 1936 — March 17, 2023

Oakley, UT

Charlene Barbara Nye Hogan passed peacefully of natural causes on Friday, March 17, 2023. She was artistically and musically talented, funny, charming, and beloved by all.

Charlie was born in Ogden, UT, to Alma and Chick Nye and spent her childhood in Salt Lake City, with her sister, Pat Nye Buckley. She graduated from Olympus High School in 1954, attended the University of Utah, and worked as a secretary until she retired from Mountain Fuel in 1998. She married Bob Hogan in 1958, joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was sealed to Bob in the Manti Temple in 1975. They lived in Salt Lake City, UT; Arvada, CO; and Oakley, UT.

Charlie lived in Oakley for 39 years. She loved her home, neighbors, and friends there. She loved children and would usually leave the adults talking and find the kids. She also loved animals, and they loved her. She had cats, dogs, horses, goats, parakeets, chickens, geese, and turkeys including a special girl named Birdie. She played ball with another furry friend, the neighbors’ dog Casey. After Charlie moved into assisted living, Casey continued to visit her house every day, hoping she would be there to play ball.

Charlie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister. She is survived by her daughter, DeNeil Hogan Petersen; her son, Gary Hogan; his wife, Cori; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Charlie will be buried next to Bob in the Bountiful City Cemetery after a graveside prayer on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. No viewing or service at her request.
