Charles Brock

November 11, 1921 — February 5, 2014

Biography

Charles “Bob” Brock, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home, February 5, 2014. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
He was born November 11, 1921 in McMinn County, Tennessee, the 2nd of 10 children. He married Bobbie Lou Veal, February 21, 1943. He served valiantly during WWII in the army and was the recipient of many medals including Good Conduct, the Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star.
After the war, they moved to Southern California where Bob worked for many years as a Master Engineer at McDonald Douglas building and designing airplanes and retired as the Vice President of Production Engineering. His handshake was his bond and he was one of the hardest workers we knew with an amazing work ethic.
Bob and Bobbie retired to Bountiful in 1989 to be closer to family. Bob served tirelessly in the community at the Bountiful Golden Years Center for the last 25 years, volunteering countless hours and making countless friends. He was also a host at the Garr Ranch at Antelope Island and loved giving tours.
Bob was a master in the kitchen and could make homemade salsa, jellies, and applesauce like nobody’s business. We looked forward to Sunday mornings with biscuits and gravy and pop’s dippy eggs. Our favorite memories of Pop include: sleepovers, card games, jazz games and nachos. His candy jar was always full and the fridge was always loaded with Pepsi ready for visitors.
He is survived by his two children: Patricia (LaMar) Edwards and Danny (Kelly) Brock. He has 7 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie, an infant son, Charles H. Brock Jr. and 2 great-grandsons, Buddy and Cory Hanor.
