Charles Cassaro

Charles Joseph Cassaro passed away on Sunday morning November 21, 2010 in Bountiful, Utah at the age of 85. He was born in Pittston, Pennsylvania on November 6, 1925 to his parents Carlo Cassaro and Josephine Pagano. Charles worked and retired from General Electric Company in Schenectady, New York after 40 years of service. He worked as a Steamfitter and Plumber. Charles was known for his outstanding ability to fix everything and anything. He received much recognition from General Electric Company for his brilliant recommendations and solutions. He also served in the United States Military Army Branch. Charles earned and received a Purple Heart during World War II. Charles married Virginia Florence Siano on August 30, 1952. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, August 6, 1969. Charles was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many significant positions within the church. He served as a Stake Missionary and as Ward Mission Leader for over 15 years in the Glenville Ward in Scotia, New York. Charles loved to do missionary work and loved to teach and bear his testimony to others of the Lord Jesus Christ. Later in life he served a full time mission in the Washington D.C. temple in Kensington, Maryland. He is survived by his daughter, Rosina Cassaro-Anastasio of Bountiful, Utah and his son, Carlo David Cassaro of Windham, New York, 4 grandchildren, Hannah Racheal Anastasio, Atteala Cassaro, Gina Cassaro, and Samuel Cassaro. He is also survived by his brother, Peter Cassaro of Lady Lake, Florida and his sister, Marion Cassaro Mogovera of Schenectady, New York. Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty years, Virginia Florence Siano Cassaro; his brother, Joseph Cassaro; and his sister, Antionette Cassaro Anazalone. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the LDS Chapel, 1500 South 600 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Saturday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
