Biography

Bert was born October 8, 1935, in San Luis Obispo, CA to Charles N. Dowler and Dorothy C. Andersen. He passed away February 1, 2014, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He married Margot Bonants on September 11, 1959, in Eppelheim/Heidelberg Germany. Survived by his wife, Margot; sons: John (Jan), Patrick (Brenda)’ daughter, Brenda Dowler Brown Pons; sisters: Marilyn (Lavar) Thalman, Joanne (David) Weaver; Brother-in-law Ottomar Bonants and wife (Germany); ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Bert was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.
Bert was raised in Richfield, Utah, and was a member of the LDS Church. He joined the Armed Forces at the early age of 17. He served 4 years in the USAF and 17 in the Army. He loved his country. He lived his life to the fullest and loved his family to the end.
Services will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 1:00 pm, 295 North Main St. Bountiful, UT. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 7, from 6-8pm at the same location and one hour prior to the services.
