Charles E. Bradford was born in Salt Lake City on 12 March 1926 to Charles Raymond and Sarah Vida Jones Bradford, and died on 26 October 2015 surrounded by his family. Ted was the youngest of seven children. His mother died when he was just 11 months old, so his older sisters bore the responsibility of caring for him. He spent a great deal of his time with his father as he was growing up, and followed in his footsteps into the field of law. Ted met and soon married his beloved Kaye (Kathryn Jane Cutler) in 1944, just before leaving to serve in the Marine Corps in the Pacific campaign. Although he was wounded in the invasion of Iwo Jima, he survived to spend 71 years with his wife and, along the way, father nine children.
Ted took advantage of the GI Bill to obtain his JD degree from the University of Utah. He had a broad law practice for many years, presided over the Davis County Bar Association for a term, and served a term as a Juvenile Court judge, helping many youthful offenders. He was involved in politics, serving for a term in the Utah House of Representatives and frequently as a delegate to State and national political conventions. He was also an active and committed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as bishop and in many other capacities over the years.
Ted was a devoted husband and father, and took immense pleasure in his association with his children, their 39 grandchildren and 101 great-grandchildren, and all of the spouses who joined the family. He was remarkable for his generous and welcoming heart and adventuresome spirit. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings (Ray, Jess, Alice, Lucile, Richard, and Margaret), a daughter, Tami, and a grandson, Andrew. He is survived by his wife and eight children: Dave (Christine), Doug (Christa), Dee (Susan), Toni, Daron (Janet), Dan (Susan), Teri, and Tina (Ken).
Russon Brothers Mortuary will host a viewing on Friday, 30 October, from 6 to 8 pm at their Bountiful location, 295 N. Main. Funeral services in Ted's honor will be held the next day, Saturday 31 October, at 11 am in the North Canyon 5th Ward chapel (2505 South Davis Boulevard, Bountiful), preceded by a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30.
