Charles Ned Rasmussen

    Charles Ned Rasmussen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends at LDS Hospital on March 10th, 2018.
    Charles was born of "goodly parents" John Ernell and Bertha Colby Rasmussen on the 24th day of October the year 1928. He was the eighth of nine children born to his parents in Ephraim, Utah. The rock house he was born in is still standing today. On April 1st 1932 his sister Nona was born and this completed their family. Two infants' preceded Nona's birth in death. He lost his father in a railroad accident at the young age of eight. His widowed mother married Fred Tuttle six years later and there family moved to Manti, Utah. He loved his four years at Manti High School where he met our beloved mother Julia Chloe Judd in their sophomore type class. He graduated from Manti High School in 1946 where he served as their Senior Class President.
    Dad graduated from Snow College in 1948. While attending Snow, he lettered in football as their star "quarterback". He had the lead in two romantic plays, "Arsenic and Old Lace", and "You can't take it With You". He was also the sports editor for Snow College's "Snow Drift" publication.
    Our handsome and debonair father married our beautiful and poised mother in the Manti Temple on July 29, 1949. Our mom graduated from Utah State University in June 1949. They started their lives together in Salt Lake City where dad attended University of Utah. He graduated from the U of U School of Pharmacy in 1951, second in his class of 140, Phi Kappa Phi (National Honors Society), and Rho Chi (National Pharmacy Society). His first job as a pharmacist was at Walgreens Drug Store at $75 a week. He was accepted to the U of U Medical School, but decided to make his career in the Pharmaceutical Industry of Lederle Laboratories. His first location was in Idaho Fall, then Ogden Utah where our parents loved their social life and dad won the prestigious "Lederle Gold Cup" award. The next move was a promotion where he became the sales education instructor in Pearl River, New York. Our dad loved to teach and be on stage. The next promotion was a hospital rep. in Phoenix, and their last stop was in Bountiful, Utah where dad was a district manager. He served as the President of Allied Drug Travelers.  
    Dad retired in 1991 and he began his most beloved years with his "grandchildren". He took them on trips by driving them in his truck to St. George and chasing rainbows. Then it was fishing, skiing, sledding, jogging and hiking. Grandpa loved to watch his grandchildren play football, soccer, baseball, and tennis. Then it was off to see them perform in musicals, dance, piano, and vocal recitals. Last but not least he was Santa Claus at their grade schools for several years.
    Dad loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints. He was in the Branch Presidency in New Jersey, served as the family relations teacher, and Bountiful Stake Sunday School President as well.

He earned the moniker of "Mr. Sunday School" due to his numerous callings in the Sunday School organization. He was the Gospel Doctrine President of the Mueller Park 5th Ward. His most beloved calling was serving as a Senior Missionary with our mom in St. George, Utah, where he went on after their mission to portray Brigham Young over a 101 times. Dad was a photographer, a runner (he ran over 5000 miles), but most of all he was a "lover of people".
    He is survived by his lovely wife Julia Chloe Rasmussen of 68 years, his brother Jack Rasmussen (Laree) Spokane Washington, and his three children Rebecca (Gary) Twitchell of Irvine, California; John (Joyce deceased) Sandy, UT; David (deceased) Boston, Mass; Polly (Craig) McQuarrie NSL, UT; grandchildren: Trevor, Dustin, Kameron, Carson, Jennifer, Jessica, Julie, Mattie and Carly; great grandchildren  "17". Dad was preceded in death by Thad, Thora, Beth, Lois, RV, and Nona.
    Funeral services will be held at the Maple Hills Chapel located at 1320 East 1975 South, Bountiful, UT Saturday March 17th at 11:00 a.m. with calling hours prior to the funeral from 9:00-10:30. Interment will be at Memorial Lakeview Mortuary and Cemetery 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.
