Chizuko Ronning

November 2, 1935 — December 15, 2015

Our beloved mom and grandma, Chizuko Ronning, passed away on Tuesday, December 15 in Layton, Utah. Chizuko was born on November 2, 1935 in Kagoshima, Japan.  She married the military when she wed Richard Ronning on May 24, 1965 and dedicated her life to be a wife, mother, grandmother, and adopted mother of an army of pets, including squirrels, piranhas and guinea pigs.  A student of life, she never met a challenge she could not conquer.   From cake decorating to sewing, fishing to gardening, fear of driving and fear of flying, she brought life to all that she touched.  Age tried to catch up to her in her later years, but she always managed to stay one step ahead, one step smarter.

Chizuko is proceeded in death by one brother and a very special granddaughter, and survived by one sister and one brother, 3 children, Jim (Tina), Sandy, and Robert (Delores), 5 grandchildren and many close friends.  Her passing will leave a void in this world, but she will forever remain in our hearts.    Our mother was a survivor, strong in spirit, soul and mind.  Her courage is her legacy, she will continue to live as long as we have the courage to let her go.  “Please don’t stand in front of my grave and weep, I did not die.  I never die.  A thousand winds, I have become a thousand winds.”

Please join us for a celebration of her life held at Russon Brother’s Farmington Mortuary, 1941 N Main Street.   Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015.  Viewing will be from 12:30pm – 1:45pm, and services will be from 2:00pm – 3:00pm.  There will be a luncheon immediately following the funeral services, all are welcome to attend: 510 W 2400 N, Layton, UT 84041.
