Chloe Adams

d. July 31, 2004

On August 31, 2004, Heavenly Father called home one of His most precious angels, Chloe Butterfield Adams. Chloe was born August 22, 1920, to Edwin Leslie Butterfield and Amy Winters Butterfield in Riverston, Utah. She graduated early as a brilliant student from Jordan High School where she starred in many school productions and was the editor of the yearbook her senior year. She continued her education at Brigham Young University, majoring in English and Business Education. During the war years, she met Fred James Adams and following a beautiful courtship, they were married on June 20, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple, by Elder Spencer W. Kimball. Chloe became a very loving and nurturing mother to three children, Yvonne, Charlotte and Drew. She sacrificed willingly and endlessly for her family. She was a constant example of patience, love, charity, endurance and never ending faith. With Fred at her side, they made every holiday and birthday a grand occasion. They established strong family traditions and a rich family heritage. Giving service in the Church brought her great joy. She was an outstanding example of a dedicated and committed teacher. She went the extra mile in all that she did in serving the Lord. As she and Fred found themselves with grown children, they became temple workers in the Salt Lake Temple. Chloe served there for 20 years and cherished each day she spent there. She looked forward with joy to their weekly opportunity to serve. Mom relished in the beauty of the Lord?s creations. She enjoyed the birds, especially hummingbirds and quail outside her kitchen windows. She referred to flowers as a ?touch of Heaven? and we often marveled over her beautiful and tenderly tended garden roses at the Thanksgiving table. Chloe loved to read the Holy Scriptures every morning and was an avid reader. She enjoyed needlework and while traveling across the country to help with new grandchildren, she crocheted priceless Christmas stockings for each family member. There are not words to express the depth of our sorrow over Mom?s passing. Yet through her beautiful example and eloquent teachings of the Savior, we look forward with faith to the day of once again being reunited with her, as a family forever. She is survived by her husband, Fred Adams and children, Yvonne Mellinger George, Layton, Utah; Charlotte Bingham Brent, Brussels, Belgium; and Drew Adams Susan, Saugus, CA; sister, Vilate Terry; brothers, Leslie Butterfield and Frank Butterfield. She is the loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at the Bountiful 37th Ward Chapel, 1500 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Saturday morning from 10:45 – 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
