Chris Thorsten Swedin

May 31, 1958 — May 24, 2015

A few days shy of his 57th birthday, Chris Swedin passed away after a long and trying fight with cancer. He was surrounded in his home by family and friends when he gave his last and final farewell while on this Earth. In his final days he gave words of Wisdom as he shared his thoughts and beliefs. He wanted his loved ones to know that friendship can be made anywhere, all it takes is a warm smile and a simple hello. He urged each of us to be kind and compassionate and treat others equally. He left a legacy of love and laughter with all who knew him.
Chris was born and raised in Salt Lake City Utah to Fred Swedin and Rose Ortega Wall, whom he both succeeded in death. He was the oldest of 6 children, Jim Swedin, Rosmarie Swedin Anderson, Jeff Swedin, Shayne Wall and Melissa Swedin. From a young age Chris had a contagious smile and a vigor for life, he often said his favorite memories of childhood were those with his siblings and cousins as they played Army in their grandmother's backyard.
Chris loved anything that was motorized and moved fast! He enjoyed riding his dirt bike in the Nevada desert which led him to his future wife Amy Hardy Hirschi. They met on the freeway when Chris with his charisma motioned them to meet. It was love at first sight for Chris and they were married a short 3 months later. They had two children together; Crystal Rose Swedin Hirschi and Rudy C. Swedin.  He was a playful father who found joy in basketball games and wrestling matches. He had countless nieces and nephews who loved his witty and at times crazy, fun loving attitude. He was the life of the party!
Chris loved to travel! He enjoyed riding horses on the beach as well as snorkeling at Xel-ha in Mexico. He usually tested the boundaries as he would repel upside down and zip-line superman style. As well as showing no fear when it came to racing quads down the beach or in the jungle.
Chris has left much to the world! He shared his work ethic and success with his son Rudy, and he shared his adventurous spirit with his daughter Crystal. He lives on in the countenance of his 9 Grandchildren, Christian, Victoria and Brayden (Chad & Crystal's Children) Hannah, James, Madison, Emerie, Gracelynn, and Olivia Rose (Rudy & Erin's Children)
Chris will forever be in our hearts as he is remembered for his bright smile, and friendly demeanor, as he continues to grace the world with the light he shared.
