Christine Andersen Boyd

Our beloved sweetheart, wife, loving mother, sister, and friend passed away on June 8, 2021, after a long and hard-fought battle with what doctors are still calling her “mystery illness”.  Chris was so fortunate to have been surrounded by family and close friends in the days before her passing.  She slipped away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon with her loving and devoted son by her side providing her courage and comfort.  Chris will truly be missed by all who knew her and felt of her love.

Chris was born in Tremonton, Utah, to Robert M. and Shirley T. Andersen.  Within the first year of her life, her family moved to Ephrata, Washington, where her father acquired land and started farming in the Columbia River Basin.  Chris was the second of five children and grew up helping her parent’s farm and irrigate the land.  She was taught to work hard, love animals and learned to drive a tractor at a very young age.

Chris loved farm life but at age 17, when she finished high school, she decided to start another adventure and try city life.  She moved to Salt Lake City and lived with her cousins, the Frost’s.  She attended business school and studied accounting.

Who would have thought that a “country girl” would find a “city boy” to marry?  But indeed, it did happen when Chris met the love of her life.  Chris and David were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on March 22, 1971, and just celebrated 50 years of marriage this past March.

Chris and David were blessed with two beautiful children, Hilary, and David.  Chris became a devoted and loving mother, dedicated to nurturing and teaching her children.

Chris had many talents.  She loved tole painting, cross-stitching, knitting, quilting, and designing and making hand-made jewelry.  She loved to share her talents with others.  She helped establish Aunt Addy’s in Farmington, Utah, a specialty co-op store which showcased women’s homemade handcrafts and helped them sell their creations.  Over the years, Chris also started her own bookkeeping service, created several Christmas stores in downtown Salt Lake during the holidays, helped her husband manage their real estate investments, worked many years as a real estate agent and helped her son manage his barber and hair salon business.

Chris was also an excellent cook who could make up recipes in her head.  One of her greatest gifts was to pass on her cooking talents to her daughter and son.  Chris and her daughter even started a catering business.

Chris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and participated in many church callings, but her favorite calling was teaching in the nursery with her husband. Chris had a zest for life and loved spending time with family and friends.  She had a cheerful disposition and a sweet manner that made people feel loved and accepted.  She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Chris is survived by her husband, David; her two children, Hilary and David; sisters, Judy Andersen, Barbara (Jeff) Gold, Dena Andersen; brother, Mack (Telarry) Andersen and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the Somerset Ward Chapel, 1885 Summerwood Drive, Farmington, Utah.  A viewing will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Russon Mortuary and Crematory, 1941 North Main Street, Farmington, Utah and Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.

Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
