Chris returned peacefully to his Heavenly Father on July 2, 2023 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, he was 68 years old. Chris was born on April 29, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the fourth of six children born to Maurice Capson and Patricia Pohlman. Chris grew up in the Holladay area and attended Skyline High School. He married Karen Smith on July 15, 1977. They made their home in Bountiful, and raised their three children, Quinn, Blake, and Jaclyn.
Chris worked in wholesale plumbing for 43 years at HAJOCA in Salt Lake, retiring in 2019. He became well known in the plumbing industry and was known for always putting the customer first. He took pride in making sure that things were done right and on time, paying attention to the details. He worked many long hours to provide a beautiful life for his family.
Through working and serving there he made many life-long friends.
Chris was a gentle giant and was known for his big hugs. When you got a hug from Chris, you knew you were loved. He truly cared for others and genuinely wanted to know about your life. He would visit his dearest friends and stop to get to know random strangers. He had a sharp, quick wit that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He had joy for the simple things of life and always had a big smile on his face. He made it a priority to attend all his grandkids recitals, games, school plays, and birthdays. His family was his greatest joy and always said he had "just the best life."
Chris knew with full conviction that he was a child of God. Through that conviction he made all those he met truly feel the love of the Savior. As his life progressed, he developed a deep, real relationship with his Father in Heaven and Savior, Jesus Christ. Chris loved attending the temple and being with his ward family. He was known for snow blowing neighbors walks, picking up widows for church, and sitting with those who were alone.
Although his life on this earth ended much too soon, his legacy of love and joy for life will live on through his example to others. We know that his reunion with his maker was a sweet and beautiful one. We love you and miss you, but parting will be for a short time, until we meet again…….who loves you?
He is preceded in death by his parents (Maurice & Pat). He is survived by his wife (Karen), Sons Quinn Capson (Meg), Blake Capson (Kristen), daughter, Jaclyn Kofford (Quin), his 12 grandchildren and five siblings.
