Christopher K Seely

January 9, 1980 — April 14, 2025

Christopher K Seely passed away on April 14, 2025. Chris was born on January 9, 1980 in Provo, Utah as the oldest child of Kent and Carol Seely. He grew up in Farmington, Utah with many neighborhood friends and great childhood memories.

Chris had a brilliant mind, boundless energy and a curiosity for the world around him. From a young age he balanced his academic gifts with a rambunctious approach to life—often to the delight and concern of his parents. When Chris was a teenager and his parents received phone calls with the question, “Are you the parents of Chris Seely?” they never knew whether it meant he had won an academic award or if it was a call from the police.

Chris graduated from Viewmont High School with high honors in 1998. He graduated from the University of Utah where he double-majored in History and Political Science. He earned a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in U.S. History from Boston University.

He taught in various academic roles throughout his life and had a deep love for history and a true passion for teaching. He was most recently a history teacher at Syracuse High School where his students meant so much to him. He poured his heart into every lesson, always thinking of ways to help the past come alive for his students. He believed deeply in the power of education to shape lives.

Chris and his former wife, Robyn, have two beautiful children, Clara and Andrew, whom he adored with all his heart. He cherished his time with them, always planning fun experiences to share. He loved to build Legos with them, take them to Lagoon and enjoy the outdoors together.

To know Chris was to be drawn in by his wit, his lively personality, and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He had a gift for making people feel seen and thoroughly entertained. His sense of humor was second to none, and his sense of adventure kept life exciting.

Chris felt things deeply—the highs of life, its joys and laughter, but also its sorrows. He had a heart that reached for others, and a soul that often carried more than it let on. Sadly, the weight of mental health struggles became too heavy to bear. His passing is a heartbreaking reminder of the battles many face in silence.

Chris is survived by his children, Clara and Andrew, his parents, Kent and Carol, brother Kevin (Angela), sister Kathryn (David Todd), along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Beth Brown, Dorman Seely, Eleene Seely Francom and Dean Francom.
