September 12, 1926 — September 20, 2016

Clara Isabel Kearns Goudy, age 90 peacefully took her final journey into the loving arms of her eternal sweetheart Vern Evans Goudy Tuesday, September 20, 2016.
Born on September 12, 1926 in Trenton, Nebraska.  She was the fourth child of nine to Thomas Oakley Kearns and Mabel Irene Bronson.
Clara married the love of her life Vern Evans Goudy on February 1, 1946.  They are the proud parents of eight beautiful children.  Chris Culver, Diane (Lee) Francis, David (Sherrie) Goudy, Richard (Tammy) Goudy, Thomas (Emorie) Goudy, Lynette (Roger) Hayes, Evan (Debbie) Goudy and Carlene Holm; 20 grandchildren; and 36 great great-grandchildren. Clara is also survived by her brother Archie Kearns and sister Phyllis Johnson.  Clara was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six siblings, grandson Joshua Wallentine, and great grandson Alexander Marinelli.
As a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was baptized by her husband in the font of the Salt Lake City Tabernacle. Clara had a strong testimony of the Gospel and a love for her Heavenly Father and the Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.  She served in many callings and positions.  She was passionate about family history.  As a Centerville resident since 1957 she left a lasting legacy to her town.
Clara was the President of the Centerville Historical Society for 20 years also the founder and original curator of the Whitaker Family museum. She spent countless hours researching and documenting over 10,000  pages of records, histories, obituaries and pictures of Davis County, and the history of Centerville City and its pioneer residents.
Governor Levitt presented her with a declaration, proclaiming September 6, 2001 as 'Clara Goudy Day' because of her endless service to Centerville City.
Above and beyond her joy of her civic services, the greatest love and pride of her life was her husband and her precious children.
Our sincere gratitude to Envision Home Health and Hospice (Teasha you are an angel!), and Legacy Home of Bountiful for your loving care.
