Clarence Corbett Argyle was born November 24, 1924 in Bancroft, Idaho to Thomas M. And Mary Jane Argyle. He died of natural causes July 1, 2011 in Spokane, Washington. Clarence grew up in West Bountiful, Utah. His high school graduation was expedited to allow him to enlist in the Army Corp., where he trained as a pilot and achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant. He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in marketing. In 1947 he married Kathryn Hatch in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised five children. Later divorced. He had a successful career in marketing Kentucky bluegrass, which included a term as president of the Washington Seed Association and culminated in co-ownership of Heart Seed Co. in Fairfield, WA. He was particularly proud to have developed a new strain called Argyle Kentucky Bluegrass. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; daughters, Elizabeth (Richard) Sontheimer, Barbara (John) Olsen, and Leslie (Daniel) White; sons, Eric (Brenda) Argyle and Thomas (Lori) Argyle; sisters, Jane (John) Page and Evelyn (Stuart) Winegar; brother, Dean Argyle (LaRue); 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; Kathryn Argyle Klaveano; Bud and Sargie Fransen and many other dear friends. Clarence was preceded in death by his 2nd wife, Opal and brother, Douglas (Thayle) Argyle. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2011 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main where a visitation will be held from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
